Museum leaders had projected 19,000 memberships the first year. That goal was reached in the first 100 days of operation. The number of memberships is approaching 50,000.
“When that many members of the community decide to invest money out of their family budgets, you realize they see the value of a membership and that they intend to visit the museum more than once,” Rathjen said.

The crush of visitors took its toll on the museum. Some exhibits temporarily closed for maintenance because of overuse.
In September, the museum shut down for several days to catch up with repairs, an action that museum officials plan to repeat each year.
“We didn’t realize how busy things can get for a facility that’s going every day,” Rathjen said. “We were bringing paint crews in at 1 a.m.”

Looks like Mr. Hoglund (who lives in both Dallas & Houston, but mainly Dallas) is doing the same for the Dallas museum scene as he did to bring up Houston's.

I'd rather Houston have the lesser major airport plus a seaport (domestic & foreign) than only one airport. D/FW can tout its "inland port" horn all it wants, but its not a true port by any stretch of the imagination. Another Dallas pretense just like the billion dollar bridge to no where.

That said, Hobby is busier than Love Field even though Dallas is where Southwest is based. Sad, but true.

In 2010 alone Hobby had over 1 million more passengers. Think about it for a minute...that's flying the entire City of DALLAS in a years time.
