Well I hope he stops in Dallas first, after going through all those refinery chimneys he may need a lung transplant.

By the way, it's good to hear from you again, metroplex2003.

Cool American vs. Continental

I'm in Austin. I used to love CO over AA. Their points don't expire whereas AA's does. Upgrades were nice too, and so was their service. BUT, AA in Austin is all about nonstops that make life easy.

AA from AUS: Seattle, LAX, Orange Co, San Jose, DFW, Chicago, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis....there's talks that we may be getting back our Miami flight (shhhhhhh....you didn't hear that). Same plane service gets you to LGA and BOS and SFO without getting off. That's why CO has a problem.

CO will not pull their head out of their ass - they insist we MUST fly to IAH. We've got more flights to IAH on CO than I care to count and from wheel's up to wheel's down, that's a 20 minute flight.....if that. They even put a 757-300 on that route too. Now, come on!

That makes no sense to "force" people into Houston and think that's smart. If anyone understands WHY they do this, please let me know. I would love to understand WHY.

CO has 3 gates in AUS. Not that big a deal. But consider that 90% of those flights are going to IAH. huh? Including 757-300s. why?

CO: IAH, CLE, EWR......90% to IAH. 3 cities.

AA: RDU, ORD, DFW, LAX, SNA, SEA, STL, SJC....soon MIA? for now, 8 cities.

I don't necessarily like AA's service over CO. But damn, I get where I want to go without having to cross DFW or IAH. So, why would I go back to flying CO?

CO has another problem coming up in AUS. VivaAerobus, a Mexican version of Southwest, is coming to Austin in Spring 2008. That's in a few months. They will be flying to 6 cities in Mexico from AUS. Plus, they are super-affordable. If CO is pushing AUS to use IAH for Mexican travel, they can forget that. With AeroMexico and VivaAerobus, AUS will have 7 nonstops to Mexico. AGAIN, NONSTOP SERVICE. Is anyone at CO paying attention?! Why would anyone want to go to IAH and wait another few hours for a flight? Those days are OVER for us. CO will do itself in - after Gordon left, they were too stupid to pay attention. They had to get market "Specialists" involved and now all common sense is lost. They don't listen to their own employees, either.

AUS passenger traffic is up by 8% from the previous time the year before. It has been on a steady incline for a while. We're approaching 9 million passengers a year. If it grows next year by another 7-8% (it's following the city's growth rate), that's around 690,000 new passengers from the year before.

Why the hell is CO still stuck in the "olden days" of hub and spoke crap? If they want those passengers, they're gonna have to fly nonstop from AUS or forget it. United flies to more cities from AUS than CO now that I think about it!!

United from AUS: DEN, LAX, SFO, IAD, ORD.

CO, what the hell?! I love you guys but you make no sense whatsoever.
