For miles. All I could think was "I dang sure better not break down."
Anyone who was living in TX during that summer will have nothing good to say about it. Horrible.

Reaching even further back, ditto for 1980.

As a native Floridian I don't particularly see the big deal about this Heat imo.

Is not that unusual, but not for such long period of time.
We are beating all records, so yes, what's going on this Summer is quite unusual.
It seems like every day another weather record is broken by this brutal summer heat.

All I know is that last night at 6 pm it was still 106 degrees outside here in NE Texas Real temps, not "feels like" temps.

I live south of San Antonio. This town and the other closest to it lost power last night - over 4 hours.

Luckily we did not. Not sure why. We didn't lose power or water either during the snowpocalypse last year.

I think it was 2011 when I drove through Wichita Falls/Vernon and the ground was literally smoking. It was weird because I didn't think there was much out there to burn. It looked and smelled like Hades. I stopped for gas and a cold drink in Vernon, firefighters were in there taking a break. Half of them were high school volunteers, I don't think I'll ever forget that.

Power good here. I did loose power last week but a dummy cut a tree onto the line about 2 miles down the road.

Humidity is killin me here. Temps may have been low triple digits a few times but this close to the Gulf(75 miles) and East Texas the humidity is just rough --- sweat just doesn't evaporate and cool. Just more skinny dippin pool time for me.

Thank you Abbott for appointing this clown to be ERCOT's CEO

Now, the head of ERCOT has admitted to a Houston newspaper they did not expect it to be as hot as it is.
