That is the whole Austin metro area - Greater Austin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm surprised Houston is #1 right now. I guess it's great if you like a Southern city that's flat and has a lot of rain, gloomy weather, and concrete.

Dallas is better. And who doesn't love Central Texas? Most Houstonians I know would love to be able to get a job in Austin and live there instead.

Say what?!?

Dallas is almost a carbon copy of Houston visually & has just as much, if not more concrete, billboards, & strip malls.

It does rain a little more in Houston, but that's only because its on the coast & receives those tropical afternoon thunderstorms that last for like 5 or 10 minutes then its sunny again just like in Florida & Hawaii. This helps contribute to the abundance of greenery in Houston vs. Dallas.

Gloomy weather to me is in the dead of winter in Dallas with grey overcast skies & brown leafless shurbs sporadically strewn across the North Texas prairies.

hooked the sprawl and the vibe of the city of Houston and the people down

there are just awesome If only I was only living there right now instead of

Arlington Texas.

1. Houston
2. Dallas
In no particular order: Tyler, Galveston, Beaumont, Texarkana, Corsicana, Marble Falls, Copperas Cove, Killeen, Athens, Nacogdoches.

I'm clearly very partial to Eastern Texas.

I didn't mean to start a flame war. I'm not a big fan of Dallas or anything. I haven't spent much time there but it feels much more Texan than Houston. I was in Houston from age 11 to when I went to college at UT. Then I lived there again for 3 years after college. Houston feels completely separate from the rest of the state. It might as well be in Louisiana or Georgia. When I went to Austin and it was like I finally got to the real Texas.

Personally, that's one thing I love about it; how it stands out more than any big city in the state.
