No way is Charlotte prettier than Atlanta.

Besides, why tack on a couple of extra hours if you don't need to? Atlanta's a lot easier to get to from Knoxville than Charlotte, particularly now that I-40 is closed at the NC state line.

I forgot about that. By the time I get the money for Ikea the road could be open, though.

To me, Charlotte is much, much more attractive. Of course, that's a completely personal opinion. I think Atlanta's a nice city, too, despite nefarious traffic.

Why anyone would use I-40 is beyond me though. The trip through the Tri-Cities is so much prettier. (All said somewhat tongue in cheek of course; and assuming you have LOTS of time to while away!)

One thing, though, is that I've never been in Atlanta's ikea. Supposedly it's the mega store of the US Ikeas so it may more desirable than Charlotte's.

I've been to Atlanta's IKEA. If you go on the weekend, there is virtually no traffic. The IKEA is VERY busy, however. Charlotte's store would probably be less crowded. However, I think there is way more to do in Atlanta if you were to go down for a weekend. We went down for a few days and went to IKEA on Sunday before we headed home to Nashville.

Moving to Tennessee, we went through Atlanta on a Sunday at about 9 p.m. The traffic was moving, that's for sure. It certainly is Nascar nation down there. Even the cops were doing 80, it seemed.

Our trailer carrying our things and tons, literally, of tools broke in Atlanta. A nice young man fixed our trailer the next day. Right in the convenience store parking lot and for free. So I will always love Atlanta. But it seems like it is busy there no matter what time of day. Kind of like NY!

OMG, yes!! Atlanta drivers are intense!! Once we got turned around in downtown and there was a marathon going on, so there were roads closed everywhere, it was crazy!!

But, back on topic, the Atlanta IKEA is also crazy! It's huge!! Now, I've never been to one before, so maybe they are all huge, but there was sooooo much stuff I was kinda overwhelmed. And then they were out of what I really wanted! I would definitely go back though.
