I have been looking for volunteer opportunities for my daughter who is 11 years old. I cannot find anything that allows someone as young as her to volunteer. Anyone know of any places? I was hoping she could volunteer at a hospital and read or play games with children patients. They all seem to want their volunteers to be at least 14 or 16 years old. I would be willing to volunteer along with her since she is only 11 years old.

Any direct leads would be great. I have read plenty of articles online that give general ideas. The articles say "volunteer at a homeless shelter, feed the homeless, cleanup a park, volunteer at an animal shelter (which you have to be at least 16!), etc. I have not been able to find anything for an 11 year old.

Thanks!

I saw a consent form for minors on HandsOn Tampa Bay. More here --> HandsOn Tampa Bay. Also, I just remembered about Treats for Troups. I don't know if they will accept pre-teen volunteers, but Karin, the cookie lady (lol), has been looking for more helpers. The warehouse is in Wesley Chapel.

Have you looked at the listing for the "Give a Day, Get a Day" Disney program? They have a lot in Tampa and I've seen a lot for preteens. Also she could get a free day to any Disney park as a little bonus!

Try a nursing home, my daughter (12) and I just went through this and we found nursing homes will let you volunteer as long as you do it with her.
