^^^^ The heck with the ice cubes alltogether. I used to prefer a strong banana daiquiri whipped up in the blender to cool off......Buffet had it right, the frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

Poor Matt, you got all worked up and generated even more heat by beating up your furniture and appliances. Luckily, we should be getting some relief from summer's heat soon.

It was 70-72 degrees here last night, had the french doors open with a nice little breeze.

In the same way that putting baking soda on an acidic solution causes it to bubble. But what I almost hate more than the heat itself are the people that uphold The Big Lie, the fallacy that a Florida summer is just a 3 month, minor discomfort of the year. Hell, my parents fall into this category. In fact I've had to distance myself from them lately. It's more than discomfort, this heat can rob you of your goals, your will to live, and let me tell you, it can contribute to alcoholism too. Oh but the redneck will respond with how the heat doesn't bother him because he's been here so long. Well let me tell you, I've been here a while too. I was born at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa, in 1974 while you were still up in Ohio or whatever fly-over state you came from (Fly-Over State: noun, term used by celebrities referring to everything between New York and LA). And I still haven't gotten used to the heat, hell it feels worse now than when I was a kid. Maybe I'm turning into a wuss or something. But these old crows-feet crackers with their Guy Harvey shirts, they say that the heat doesn't bother them. But are they doing anything mentally taxing at home? No, their smoking cigarettes (i hope they raise the tax some more), drinking, and watching cars go around a circle. Well if that's all I had to do too, maybe the heat wouldn't bother me either. I'd just open up the windows, it's not like my brain would overheat. But I'm trying to get some studying done in this hot box, trying to finish up a LONG overdue degree so that I can have the freedom do move somewhere else.
I couldn't agree with you more! When I'm outside I don't mind the heat but when I'm indoors the damned A/C better be cranking! I cannot stand walking into some homes here in FL that have the A/C set up near 80 degrees just to save a few bucks per month. I'd rather skip out on the groceries if I had to just to make sure I'm comfortable.

It may have been 70F last night, but it was probably 100% humidity too. Not too great, unless you like sleeping in water. I've got to keep the A/C cranking until it cools down and dries up around here.

It's SUPER HOT here in the summer time, or should I say May - Sept, and that's just the way it is. This is Florida. Our electric bill this month was $535.00!!

Keep your cool. The nice weather months are coming right up!

For a quick fix, jump in the shower with the water as cold as you can get it. If that doesn't work then you could always move to Siberia. Always nice and cool there!

Or Minnesota.

My favorite part of the rant - having to distance yourself from your parents. LOL!

Humidity was 50-60% most of yesterday and got up to about 78% at one point.
Temp was 70's at night with a 10 mph breeze.
Felt good to me.

If your electric bill is $535 you may want to get that checked out.
