It is interesting how different people perceive the same thing. This is part of a thread on another website regarding
Spring Hill, FL schools. The thread is less than 30 minutes old.

Anthony: Our children went to central high 4 of them and all went on to college and became 1 lawyer 1 major corp. marketing manager. And 2 teachers. I think the school provided every thing they needed to advance on in life.

Mia: It all depends on your kids and who they chose as friends my oldest son went to central and loved it .. I thought it was a fantastic school never had or heard of any problems there... we brought a house so he now goes to springstead and he loves it there as well both schools have great football, basketball, track, and softball teams!!! Your gonna get some bad ANY where you go some worst then others... but honestly it's who your kid chooses to associate with. And yes nature coast is a great technical school but when it comes down to being under the microscope. . That school is one of the number 1 targets!!

Jeff: loved it! c/o 2012

Mia:.. we have 4 kids and love it here!

For those with school-age children considering Spring Hill (or any other area for that matter), do your homework before moving there. Tour the schools while they are in session so you can see the general population of kids by which your child will be surrounded. See for yourself what your children will be experiencing. Take the advice you are given here and couple it with what you experience in person. Only YOU can decide what is best for your family. For some, Spring Hill would be a good fit. For others, it would not. Personally, you couldn't pay me to move back there. Our experience was not a good one.

Just think how bad west Pasco schools are.

True! Although I don't want to live in Spring Hill again, I'd choose to live there over northwest Pasco any day!

There is a very small "beach" (I use that term loosely) in Spring Hill - it's called Pine Island. It's man-made. The sunsets are beautiful there, but the water is very shallow, often hot, and extremely bacteria-prone. The sand is coarse. There's also another "beach" on the Weeki Wachee River, but it's very small and again, man-made. Any real beaches are about an hour away.

If you have a boat, you can join the many other boaters who like to do the "Redneck Riveria" off of Hernando Beach (a housing development on the gulf) - they basically anchor up just off shore and hang out all day in the water and on their boats. I hear it's much better than going to Pine Island.

I'm not sure about super desirable areas in Spring Hill. A lot of retirees enjoy Timber Pines. Many of my friends lived in a neighborhood called Sterling Hills across the street from a K-8 school called Challenger (the one halfway decent school in the county) and they liked it well enough in there. I believe the closer you are to the Suncoast Parkway, the better off you will be. We used to live near Delta Woods Park, and I would strongly suggest that you NOT pick that area - there is a lot of crime and drugs in the surrounding neighborhoods. Also avoid the area between County Line Road and Spring Hill Dr. near US 19. Royal Highlands can be sketchy too. Maybe some others who live or have lived there can point you in the right direction.
Thanks so much for the great info! How can I contact you from Philly suburbs? Not sure what PM is

And thanks so much to all who were so helpful!!

Take the non stop negative posts with a grain of salt. Once someone learns to hate a place the negativity towards it is non stop. If you read this thread you will get an idea of the whacked out information that is posted by some users. \

Drug ravaged high crime areas do not exist here in Spring Hill. There's drugs, but its not something that affects anyone on a daily basis except the users. For crime states check out the Hernando County Sheriff's Office crime log. Hernando County Sheriff's Public Records Inquiry You would want to see the "offense reports" and you can choose particular days or time frames. Here you will find info on Pine Island including pictures. Nice beach in Hernando County area - Review of Pine Island Park, Weeki Wachee, FL - TripAdvisor

As far as Delta Woods Park, teenagers tend to hang out there. Its a park. Hernando County Parks & Recreation Here is a link to the "other small beach" that is referred to Hernando County Parks & Recreation

Some people have stated that Spring Hill is a "slum" yet nobody has posted a link to a Google Earth page that shows any resemblance to a "slum" or a poverty stricken area in Spring Hill.

Between my friend from Philly, Hwtech and myself there arent too many folks who actually live in Spring Hill but feel free to send direct messages to us or just post, we will get back to you and you will get honest answers and not hate mail.

You are quite welcome! PM stands for Private Message. It's a way to communicate on here privately.

To send me a PM, just do as someone else said on here and click my username. From the drop down menu that appears, select "send a direct message." This will enable you to communicate with me without everyone else seeing what is said.
