Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some suggestions on where to live. We live out in the burbs in Chicago right now and are wondering on where to look. My job is going to be in Lakewood Crest, just south of I-4 and I-75 intersection.

We're expecting our first kiddo in July, and we have two dogs, so we need a yard and a pretty safe place to live. We're both under 30 and looking to buy (cap is around 250-275k). My commute now is around 45 minutes so I'm not too bothered by anything like that...

Would you reco South Tampa or Riverview/Valrico area? What about Wesley Chapel/Lutz?

Is the commute from Westchase that bad? What about from st. pete? Does that bridge turn into a parking lot like I imagine? My work ours are flexible...

I just want to know if it's worth it...

Thanks everyone!

Riverview/Valrico/Apollo Beach would be the best commute for where you are working. Some very nice Master Planned Communities in the area. Panther Trace, Fishhawk Ranch, Waterset just to name a few.

With flexible work hours, Wesley Chapel/New Tampa/Lutz are all viable options. Westchase commute would not be for me and depending on the size of your home, not much available in there for less than 300K. Surrounding areas, yes. Just not Westchase.

New or used homes, your maximum price of 275K there will be many nice options for you.

Westchase/Lutz/ are too far west; getting from Lutz, Carrollwood, Citrus Park, Land O Lakes, Westchase to I-75 is convoluted and crowded, and the traffic sucks at all hours because the roads that are NOT filled with ppl going to work, are filled with retirees taking scenic drives at 20mph in 50mph zones!...however places in New Tampa off Bruce B Downs will work quite well as you will be VERY close to I-75 making for an easy commute. You have to learn to deal with the nod between Bruce B Downs and Fletcher ave...but that is a lot more doable than coming from Lutz.

Wesley Chapel might be to far north.

South of your exit.....I am not a fan of Riverview...for eventual re-sale value and better schools I would go with Fishhawk.

I would recommend Riverview or South Tampa. The only one I would be leery of is Valrico because its hard to get in and out of there due to traffic and the vicinity to the interstate.

We're originally from Chicago. Don't buy, but rent in Riverview for a year. See what areas you like best. Westchase would be too far of a commute.

The 34685 part of Palm Harbor, which is on the east side of Lake Tarpon, would "not" be a good location as it is too far to where you indicated you need to travel to.
