I might be moving back to St. Louis very soon and am looking for some suggestions from the locals. I say back, as I moved there for a short period after college. I lived in West County though, and honestly didn't get out much at all. Work was right down the street and I really just stayed in the Chesterfield area. That being said, if I do move back (depending on whether I take this job or not) I'll want to live somewhere much more city-like. I would be working in the 270/Olive area, and always prefer short work commutes, though I'm fine with driving probably 30 minutes max each way. I don't necessarily want to live downtown, but would prefer a city atmosphere much more so than a suburb one.

Any suggestions? I'd probably wanna keep the rent under 700, btw. I know this is broad, but that was intentional. Feel free to ask more questions if necessary to better respond.

I would try out Soulard or the CWE. Soulard being more affordable with a lot of young professionals.

Do you think Soulard is doable at 30 minutes max during rush hour?

djkkt6 -- I saw your post in the Chicago forum about losing your job. I am so sorry! I do really think you could be happy in St. Louis! (just like I still think with Chicago-Eman)

I think it is doable. I can get out to St Charles county in 40-45 mins and thats with taking Forest Park. As long as you hit FP Parkway before 740 its a highly possible.

Plus even though Soulard is in the city it also has a neighborhood feel to it which may lessen the shock for people moving from the county.

I'm a lot less inclined to help you after your post in the Chicago forum.

Cool. You haven't helped at all yet anyways. I'm sure someone who actually lives in St. Louis could help me.

Do you pick fights in every thread? You did the same thing in the one you referenced earlier, now you're doing it here? Christ.
