Hi. We are moving to Chesterfield area this summer. Almost too late for me to really make any decisions about our kids school. Two will be in preschool and one entering 2nd grade. We are going to public school. Could someone please let me know the thougths on the elementary schools in ths district. According to Greatschools.net Pond and Chesterfield schools have the highest scores - I know to take that for what it is worth! But I would like to know how the different elem. schools are thought of. THank you for your input.

Rockwood, Parkway, Ladue and Clayton are typically regarded as the best districts in the St. Louis area. Any of them would be great places to send your kids.

aragx6 is right....find the home that you want in one of those districts and you should be fine.

I know several people who have (or had) kids at Kehrs Mill and loved it. Also Woerther is well regarded as well. Pretty much all of them are good but I know when we lived in the district (we live in Parkway now) Ballwin wasn't doing real well. They've since redistricted and I don't know the status anymore.

I prefer Parkway because the schools are much smaller (my sons 4th grade has about 56 kids in 3 classes). Rockwood High Schools have 500 plus students whereas Parkways have about 300 (except South which is larger).

But I'm digressing. Rockwood schools are all mostly excellent and Pond and Chesterfield are very well regarded. The Rockwood superintendent was a Vice Principal at Parkway Central when I attended and I think the world of him (I think he may be on his way out though).

What then about Crestview vs. Rockwood Valley? Do you like both of them? I saw that the feeder school for Kehrs Mills was Crestview and then Marquette. Am I just splitting hairs or is there a difference in quality?

You're kinda splitting hairs- but that's OK you're kids are important to you. Both are fine schools with great test scores. i wouldn't worry about it...

I think they are both good. The only middle school I've heard anything negative about in Rockwood is Selvidge (but it's all just hearsay).

Congratulations on your move to Chesterfield!! I think you'll love it here.

Rockwood Schools are generally rated the highest in the state (yeah....they're that good) and test scores are typically at the very upper level in most studies. Parkway Schools are also very strong (I'm in the Parkway district). One elementary school is unlikely to be better or worse than the other in either district--it is uniformly solid.
