Hey-- does anyone have any suggestions for low key bars to see live music? I was recently at the Jive and Wail and now I'm on a kick to hear more live music! David Law style music, like David Law Music

Rock bands or country bars? Blues?

There are so many good ones! I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions, but here's just a few of my favorites.

Kim Massie, probably my favorite St. Louis singer (think Aretha Franklin-style), plays at Beale on Broadway downtown every Tuesday and Thursday. I've only ever been when the weather was gorgeous and they have this fantastic outdoor area, so I'm not sure what it's like in the winter ...
Kim Massie and the Solid Senders - Beale on Broadway - St. Louis - Events

Other great venues:
Blueberry Hill - St. Louis American Restaurants - Delmar/ The Loop -- If you can see Chuck Berry do it! (Anyone heard anything about his health recently?)

Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but McGurk's has Irish music every night, which I love: John D. McGurk's Irish Pub - St. Louis English Restaurants - St. Louis - Soulard/Benton Park

Cicero's has a little bit of everything music-wise, though mostly of the rock and indie variety (and if you like beer you'll never want to leave the attached bar/restaurant): Cicero's - St. Louis American Restaurants - Delmar/ The Loop

I love Broadway Oyster Bar. I don't know if I just have good luck or what but I've never seen a bad band there. Very eclectic. Speaking of that, Venice Cafe has live music a lot of the time too, also usually a bit eclectic.

Strictly live music venues that I really like include Off Broadway, Firebird, and the Pageant. Luminary Arts Center also has some good shows coming up.

BB's must be added to this list
BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups is St. Louis' Premiere Blues house!!

Tons of other bars have music on the weekends.

You're right. I was starting to list a bunch of bars that usually have live music and it was getting a bit ridiculous so I cut it back to two.

Although I will add that Iron Barley usually has some great music too. And even better food.
