Yeah he's a schmohawk, ever since his cup spitting incident. he is the only golfer I have ever rooted against and I took great joy on him putting his ball in the drink several times.
Hell of a tournament. I was really hoping that Lingmerth would capitalize on one of the birdie chances on the last 3 holes to force a playoff. Wanted to see more.
Love Sergio's swing, but he obviously stopped maturing at the age of 14. Its always something... his shoes, the rain at Bethpage, Tiger's gallery, the gallery at Bethpage.... He's the new Monty, except he only takes issue AFTER he hits a bad shot.
The overhead video is taken from a blimp. Without knowing how far away, how high, where the camera was exactly, etc... its virtually impossible to see where the ball crossed. There is no point of reference. Its similar to trying to see where a football punt flew across the sideline or whether the kick was between the uprights at a bad angle. Visual evidence always have a potential of throwing us off. How many times has someone hit a great shot and it looks like the ball is 6" from the pin - only to get up to the green and realize you were actually right on line, but 12' short or long...?
The guy is certainly entitled to his opinion. But the key here is that Tiger's playing partner, Casey Wittenberg, helped him determine the drop point - so case closed.
This does bring up the issue of some stupid rules in broadcast golf though. They need to eliminate the ability for people to call in. And make an official statement about the use of replays. Either use it, or not use it. But if you do use it, you need to apply it equally...which I don't see how you can do that with the nature of the sport. It not just two people or teams in a confined playing space.
Interesting, when I watched it live I first thought, well he is going to have to replay from the tee.
I thought so too. He seemed to get a break. Only tour rookie Whittenburg was going to keep him from getting that beneficial drop. Rolfing, a former PGA tour player initially said that the ball was all over h20 then changed his mind a few holes later.
