Phelps wins all those gold medals and then projects a pothead image by being caught smoking on a bong pipe. That is HORRIBLE judgment! What a lousy example he is for kids around this country.

Oh gee, a 23-year-old kid gets his cheeba vibe on at a college party. Like, stop the presses or something.

He has no obligation to the kids around the country to be a saint in his private conduct.

I'm disturbed. If this does not speak volumes about the harmful side effects of marijuana use then nothing else will. A world record holding gold medalist pothead. Imagine if only he didn't smoke pot.

What lousy parenting letting kids idolize an athlete.

I'm not mad about him for doing that, I have no problem with what he does in his spare time. But, I am a little upset that he allowed himself to get caught.

For some time we've outlawed several forms of what is essentially private and consensual conduct while we kind of wink and look the other way as people break those laws anyway. In today's day and age where anyone can get a video-capable camera on their cell phone for under a hundred bucks, and just about anything can be videotaped anywhere at any time, that hypocrisy won't last much longer. We'll either have to get serious about cracking down on these private-conduct laws or we'll have to get serious about repealing them.

For me...........

it's Bolt- absolutely THROTTLING the fastest men on the planet.

men's sprinting has ALWAYS BEEN THE PREMIER EVENTS IN THE SUMMER OLYMPICS.

Also,

Phelps is paid to be a SPOKESPERSON for companies/products........ NOT A ROLE MODEL FOR AMERICA'S CHILDREN.

While it is fun to think that is the case, edurance athletes eat and require a lot of calories.

When I use to run long distance and swim, I ate a ton of calories each day. I was only 5'7", 150 pounds and out ate people almost twice my size. I could easily eat a whole pizza in one sitting.
