Will $ ruin the game ?

These players receive multi million amounts and then they can win prize money at each event.
---------------
Nearly 200 players will receive a stake, with $750 million of it going to the top 36 players based on a formula that weighs career success and cultural popularity, according to The Telegraph. Other notable payouts include $30 million each for Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, while $75 million is targeted to go to notable retired players.

So Woods who is on the edge of having to retire gets $100M. They are calling these a bonus.

They are loyalty bonuses and Woods gets $100M. Mcilroy 50M
I've stopped watching LIV and will only watch the 4 majors. No other golf.
What it means is these golfers never have to win another tournament or make the cut and they are set for life with the $ numbers they will be given.

Same. To me they are the only exciting tournaments.

Though if Tiger Woods is playing, I will watch any tournament.

During the masters Tiger was quoted as saying he thought he could win one more. And gave his likely plans for the other three majors this year. However he may try to win one more PGA event (other than majors) since he is tied with Sam Snead with the most wins ever. He has wanted that record for years.

Tiger's has always focused on the Majors and the higher tier events (e.g. those considered to be FedEx signature events). Assuming that doesn't change, I would bet a lot of money that he never wins another tournament. His leg is just not going to be up to it. The fact that he is still able to compete on the tour is nothing short of remarkable.

If that is is his only goal - his best bet would be to play in an alternate event (and even then, it would be a long shot). But i don't think his ego will let him do that (not to mention he'll likely be invited to the signature events given he is still a huge draw). And by "his ego" I don't mean it in a bad way.

All that said - I would have bet my house that he'd never win another major before 2019.

howard555 & macroy - totally agree with you guys. Tiger is too competitive to give it up. Rightfully so, for everything he's won. I really hope he wins another Major or more, but it seems his body just can't take it (at least it showed in The Masters). Though for sure he has at least one more set of four rounds left in him to shine.

Shame on Tiger. He should not be telling the world he is #4 on the Mt. Rushmore of golf.
The general public, other golfers, "history," etc. should rank the 4 on Mount Rushmore of golf not Tiger.

Why not? He actually played the game. He competed against the greatest golfers of his generation... Phil, Sergio, Rory, Duval, Azinger, Adam Scott, et al. He would know more than anyone, especially the public, when a lot of the public does not even play golf.

Nah..........Tiger looks beat, watch his face as he attempts to walk without pain. He isn't competitive anymore, he is chasing Jack's record and I'd believe he would have if not for the rollover car accident.
I don't think he will even be competitive on the Senior tour.

Not sure what happened to him out in Vegas but he looked terrible. He will get balder, fatter and his golf will further erode making him a caricature of his former self.
