I'm so bummed this is over. What a great tournament this was! Much better than last year's, IMHO!

It's 8:44 AM on 9/15/22.

Just heard on MSNBC that Federer just announced his retirement on social media.

Not completely surprised, but still a bit stunned.

Bravo, Roger .

Thank you for wonderful memories.

There will never be another era like this where three men win over 60 (over 75%) of the Grand Slam singles titles over a 20 year period.

Congrats to Roger on a great career. It was a true joy to be able to watch him play, and share with my children.

Just thinking now....he'd probably already made the decision, but didn't want to take part of the spotlight away from Serena at the Open.

I'm surprised Federer isn't playing Basel, one of his most successful events and in front of Swiss fans.
And he'd only have to play one match (if he loses), whereas he'll most likely feel obligated to play more than one match at the Laver Cup.
BTW, matches at the Laver Cup count towards H2H, so players take them seriously and play hard (also play hard because its a "team" event).

It will be interesting to see who gets YE#1, plus the final 8th spot in Turin.

Yeah hope Alcaraz loses early at Paris, he'll face Berrettini in 3rd Round and Rublev in QF, a tough draw considering how badly Alcaraz lost at the Swiss Indoors last week (63 62 Felix Auger-Aliassime).

Nadal hasn't played since the US Open, but there is footage of him practicing his serve, which seems to indicate his stomach muscle has healed, after it forced him to abbreviate his serve at the US Open.

Looks like the top 8 for Turin has now been decided, with Fritz going out.
Felix Auger-Aliasime has now got the final spot.
Nadal has gone out early at the Paris Indoors, obviously very rusty from the lack of matches.
Home town here Giles Simon marches on too.
