Who are your top three coaches of any sport you choose of all times? My picks are Don Shula(33 years as coach) ,Tom Landry(29 years) and Vince Lombardi(Green Bay) for NFL Football. There are other greats but these are my favorites.Who are your favorites for the NFl.,NBA,MLB.NHL etc.
football - Vince Lombardi - Green Bay Packers
basketball - Red Auerbach - Boston Celtics
baseball - Joe Torre - New York Yankees
college football - Paul Bryant - Alabama Crimson Tide
college basketball - John Wooden - UCLA Bruins
I am not laughing, I think Mike Ditka was a good coach but I often wonder how in the hell, he only won one Super Bowl with all that talent!! I look at the Bears' roster from Ditka days and they were absolutely loaded, just surprising that he didn't win more with all that talent.
Football- Joe Gibbs with the Washington Redskins is the only coach to win 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QBs.
NBA Basketball- Larry Brown, he won everywhere he went with no big name super stars. He even took a very mediocre Philly team to the finals, other than Iverson, I can't name anyone else on that team.
College Basketball- Mr. Dean Smith, The University of North Carolina, my all time favorite coach, won a lot of games the right way, hall of famer and one of the classiest coaches of all time.
College Football- Bo Schembechler, Michigan. His record speaks for itself.
Soccer- Bruce Arena, US National team. Took an average US team (in a country that doesn't really care about soccer) to the quarter finals of the World Cup in 2002 (thanks to the officiating or they would have gone even farther). Acheived an all time highest international ranking for the US at 4th in April 2006. Won 2 Gold cups with one 3rd place finish. He put US soccer on the map.
International Soccer- Luiz Felipe Scolari, Brazil and Portugal National teams. His record speaks for itself. He's a true winner.

How about that guy Bill Belichick? He has a better regular season winning % than both Walsh and Parcells, better postseason winning % than both Walsh and Parcells, more Championship wins and Super Bowl wins than both Walsh and Parcells. Not including the one he will win this Sunday.
College basketball: John Wooden, Bob Knight, Rick Pitino
Pro football: Vince Lombardi, Bill Belichik, Bill Walsh
