Is anyone from Johnsonville? We will be moving there in 2 weeks and I would like to hear from someone who knows the area. Any info would be very helpful.

Welcome to Johnsonville. What exactly do you want to know?

Thanks for the response.
We will be moving in a few weeks and I really don't know much about the town itself.
I have read in this forum about how bad the crime and drugs are in S.C Has anything of this spilled over to Johnsonville? I live near Balt. and Philadelphia now so nothing could really shock me !
How about social events, I have a 2 yr. old daughter an would like to keep her active. Is there storytime at the library? I live in a pretty populated area now and would like to know of places ,events to meet new friends and neighbors. My husband and myself are in our 40's, so the bar, younger crowd thing isn't what we're looking for.

Hi Camuxo:

I am glad to hear of someone else interested in Johnsonville! We live on Long Island, NY and last year we bought property there in the new Persimmon Fields community. I like the location because it is near the beaches but far enough away not to get a direct hit from a hurricane. The schools are pretty good also from what I understand.

A good web site to start with when you are looking at possible areas to move to:

anytown sc detailed profile

You can find interesting things and links from this site.
Also the National Sex Offender Registry Family Watchdog.
I also called the local police station and talked to a very nice officer who lived in Johnsonville and raised his kids there.

I called the schools and talked to people there also.

Good luck with your move and please give some updates about how its going!

Barbara,
I can't wait to get there. We settle on our house on 8/3 and will leave shortly after. We will have to stay with my mom in Myrtle Beach for a week or 2 until we close down there.
I think that we are real close to Persimmon fields off of Marsh Pond rd/ Persimmon Ford rd.
Will keep ya posted.
Chrissy
