Hoolahan isn't a bad player by any stretch, but calling him the best player by a long shot is a little biased, in my opinion. Unless you are calling him the best player who was overlooked (which you might be, it's just tough to tell from the wording), in which case fair play, don't know those details.

The competition has been very tight so far, very difficult to predict. Feels like almost every contender may win, on a good day.

Yes Spain has shown the strongest performance so far. Truth to be said, turkey has been disappointing though they have some skilled players. Unlike other "weaker" teams, they didn't opt for strong defensive tactics, but rather for keeping the ball and relying on individual ball skills, and at that game Spain is obviously better.

Another poor performance by Portugal and Ronaldo. I always thought CR was somewhat overrated, but most certainly overpaid.

Ronaldo isn't overrated, his numbers at both the club and international level speak for themselves.

Portugal are loaded with talent, they just can't seem to get it together. In '02 the Portuguese team were my darkhorse to win it all. They went out in the first round (with a lot of help from the refs against South Korea, mind you). In '06 where they weren't expected to do well, they shocked the world by getting all the way to the semis.

I don't think they are överrated from a talent standpoint, they outplay almost everybody they play against, they just can't seem to capitalize when it matters. It's as if they're snakebit or something.

IMO Iceland should have gotten a penalty late on the foul in the box. Ref ruled it outside, but replay evidence suggested otherwise.
