Holy cow.... I've worked in IT for a huge company (not MS) for 10 years now and have 4 year degree, and I can't afford IH, a place "for people who wish they had money"! What does that make me? I'm starting to feel very sorry for myself... maybe I need a better job.

The problem is when you get a taste of money, you think now you're in the dough. There's a huge difference between an *income* of 150k and having *interest income* (or dividend income, or inheritance income, whatever) of 150k a year. You might be able to maintain the same status as someone coming from money, but with zero cushion. And, you think it's super-super-important to keep all that money coming in, for the money's sake. That's what I see when I go to IH. I know that's not ALL there is there, but having lived in the Dallas burbs, that's what makes me run screaming. Barely-rich people are much harder to deal with, for me, than actually-rich people. They're much more judgmental, have a much harder edge to them, a certain glint. Elektro, you seem to be have goals and to be determined, but you don't seem to be infected by the moneybug. Don't get bitten. :-)

Thank Jenlion, there's a reason I drive a Ford Focus even though I could theoretically afford a BMW. I'm more interested in having fun than living lavishly or ostentatiously. I don't know if that makes me lazy, or smart. Maybe both.

Hi, We are planning to move to Seattle in a couple of months. My husband will work in the redmond area, we are planning to look for a house in Sammamish, higland, bellevue or Redmond area. With $500 budget, which area is more suitable for us ? We also have to consider the elementary & High school school rating in that area...Pls post me more info

Well I would consider commute and schools first when deciding. Which order is up to you. The schools in all of those cities are going to be very good schools for the most part. Redmond and north end of Sammamish are the Lake Washington School District. South half of Sammamish and Issaquah are the Issaquah School District and Bellevue is generally it's own school district though some of it might fall in Issaquah (not sure about that...if so, it's a small area). All are nice areas. We prefered to stay toward I-90 for the commute downtown so we stayed right on the border of Issq/Samm but if you will be working in Redmond, I would hit the north end of Samm or Redmond. Bellevue is generally a bit more pricey so $500K is not going to go as far. South end of Samm/Issq and Issq Highlands are generally a bit more expensive than North Samm and parts of Redmond. Hope this helps.
