Looking at a job in Mt. Vernon. Would like to live in the Mill Creek area as I'd like to be closer to Seattle. Anyone have an idea what this commute is like? I've been told 45-50 minutes. Any other recommendations for communities to live between Seattle and Mt. Vernon.

Thanks

That's a long commute. I wouldn't want to do it. The traffic through Everett can be bad and then you've got 40 minutes at least to Mt. Vernon beyond that.

For most folks, the majority of their time is spent getting to and from work, and then they get 1 or 2 days of leisure time a week. It's worth considering living closer to work and having to drive a bit longer to leisure activities, rather than the other way around. Not sure if that's the case with your question, but just a thought.

Mt. Vernon is a nice smaller town community with a lower cost of living than the Seattle area proper...most of us that are stuck living and commuting in the Seattle area would love an opportunity to work in a smaller town and take advantage of that...

Finally, if your hope is to be closer to Seattle, keep in mind that Mill Creek is not considered "close" to Seattle. You are talking 45 minutes+ on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to downtown Seattle from Mill Creek...

Just some random thoughts...good luck with your decision.
