Snow is rare in the lowland valleys of Seattle metro area. I do remember we had snow for a week at one time at the time I lived there for 10 years, that was the worst one. There was about a feet of snow in east of downtown Bellevue. Some areas got about 15-16" of snow in one hit.

We had a huge snowfall in Dec. 2008 that stayed on the ground for some time. I remember that a tent covering an ice skating rink in Bellevue collapsed due to snow, and some children got trapped under it. There are a bunch of youtube videos on the 2008 snow, which goes to show how rare it is. I doubt that anyone would bother to post a video of snow in Chicago.

If you like snow during winter, a quick drive east on I-90 will give you all the snow you wish.

Yup that was 2008, I wasn't sure if it's 2007 or 2008.

That one didn't seem so bad because it was on a Sunday, so most of us were home and just stayed there until the roads cleared. The worst for us was 1996, when we had 24" at our house in Sammamish, that lasted a week. I remember in Bellevue the glass roof at Barrier Mercedes fell onto the cars in the showroom, and some of the boats at Lake Union were damaged when their slip roofs caved in. Then at the end we had freezing rain that covered my car with 1/2" of ice so I couldn't even open the door, when I finally got out and on the orad the melting "tubes" of ice from overhead power lines were falling onto Highway 405. The one in 2006 was during a Monday night Seahawks game and started while I was at Home Depot in Issaquah. I was able to hear the entire game on the radio while driving the 6 miles back home with all of the small cars stranded or slipping around all over the roads.
