Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy cheap, organic apples. Preferably red delicious or golden delicious.

I've checked both Costco's in Seattle, but they only carry organic apple slices. I've resorted to buying from Safeway in the past, but organic red apples cost around $2.00 a pound there

Does anyone know any places to buy cheap organic apples?

Thanks!

Earlier in the week we drove out Highway 2 to 97 and north to Canada, and I have to say there had to be 100 or more stands most of which sold organic apples at great prices. A shorter trip would be the 2 big stands at 97 and I90, between Cle Elum and Ellensburg. Really close is the Issaquah Farmer's Market, saturdays only 9am-3pm across from Costco. The growers bring them in from the Yakima Valley. Most, but not all are organic.

I don't know about red and yellow delicious, though, both seem to have lost favor around here. The most popular and common are Braeburn, Honey Crisp, Jazz, Pink Lady and Fuji.

Trader Joes has bags of organic apples for a good price. I don't think they carry Red Delicious, probably because it's the most disgusting apple imaginable.

I know some people who sell organic (in season) produce at the farmer's market in Olympia, if you're willing to drive that far.

I have no idea what their prices are.

Checking out Trader Joe's is a good idea. Looking online it seems Gala apples can be purchased at $1.25 a pound. Not bad.

Tomorrow I'll be bargaining at the U District farmer's market, so I'll report back the cheapest I could find.

Also, Red Delicious is good bro. Pectins for days.
