Heck, one time when I was in Dallas at the Hospital, we were at the top of the hotel and watched transformers blow up all over the place during a storm. It was like July 4th. No telling how much it costs to restore electricity.

The electric company could've saved a lot of dough if they had had protection.

I sat through a tornado once (well, more than once) and watched the sky light up in blues, greens, and pinks as transformers blew. What a mes that left behind.

Put it all underground in protected rooms.

What about using microwaves for long distance transmission? Could it be done for short hauls too?

Any other forms of wireless transmission that could be used?
