Well I took your advice here & went out today and picked everything up. Sounds like it was a good idea to get set before Tue. The track could do anything I guess in the next few days but a couple of the projected paths show Sarasota as the spot.....we will see

My first year here ( kinda creepy )

Be sure to fill your gas tanks. I remember after Charley even the stations that were open ran out of gas. Before Frances & Jeanne everyone made runs on the gas stations and many were out of gas more than a day before the storms hit.

Here are some good sites for checking the projections Navy/NRL Tropical Cyclone Page (http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tc_pages/tc08/ATL/06L.FAY/ssmi/gif/full/Latest.html - broken link) UW-CIMSS "TCTrak" Tropical Cyclone Tracker for Storm 06L On the second site you check the boxes along the top of the page to get the data.

Default keep up the good work

we own a place in North Port in an over 55 park, we are comming down on the 24th of September for a few days then leaving on a cruise out of Tampa.I hope Fay stays little and doesnt do any damage we are not at our place enough to get supplies, but when we do come down, will get some to store up thats for sure.
We will be there for a week and a half over Christmas ,hopefully the weather will be decent , what is the weather down there like at that time of year?

Cool Sites, I saved them to my favorites to check out later.
Now, I am going to take some kids out for a boat ride and swim in the Chesapeake Bay.

Be prepared for a line!! Here in Bradenton, the gas stations are jam-packed with cars. 10-15 at least preparing for Hurricane Fay!!

As someone who also went through Charley I am very unhappy with the track of Fay. I also hope that it's just a rain event with mediocre winds, but this is just a reminder that Charley was a category two storm and just before it hit land it jumped up to a category 4. Always be prepared for the worst.

A good website to monitor is www.noaa.com. (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). They are the ones that put out all of the weather advisories to the television stations and they are the weather authority really. There is a link on the homepage with all the advisory information about Fay. New advisories come out every 3 hours with updated maps, charts and projected paths, it's funny how at 5 oclock today I can read the new advisory and right after that the television stations will give updates with the new information. Also the website has moving satellite views and other features to play with. Thats what we always rely on for our hurricane info.

With that said... I'm going late tonight (after the Bucs game) to buy water at WalMart, and hopefully they will be restocked without the crowds.

5 Oclock a new advisory and updated projected path will come out... I am ABSOLUTELY praying that it moves either west or east, because I really don't want to deal with this again so soon. I was born here in Florida 29 years ago and to get hit twice in the same decade is unimaginable.

That is a good site too! Now I will be checking on that constantly over the next couple days. I have a trip scheduled to Orlando on Thursday, and a road trip to Punta Gorda on Friday Morning! I have been really looking forward to the trip! Now I that I have friends in the area, it takes on even more meaning. I felt so bad after the devestation of hurricane Katrina and Rita that I brought relief supplies down to NO to help as much as I could. I am going to keep my fingers crossed for everyone!

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in South Florida. Hopefully Fay moves on and doesn't bother anyone or anything. Best of luck to all who live there and all who are on their way there.
