there is a very detailed ordinance covering tree removal. it is written to even confuse a lawyer. they do have a section regarding grand oaks. to figure out what a grand oak is you had better have done well in algebra and geometry. there is more to that than just goesintas. the county encourages removal of pepper. and from what i get out of the law, you need to have a permit to clear or cut while it is a lot. once you build and get a CO any thing goes, cut it all down. you are lucky not to have nosey neighbors. keep the natural screening around the perimeter cause you never know who will buy next to you

The County will no longer issue a tree permit on a vacant lot without a residential permit application. Also, once you clear them you will have to continue to maintain them.

Thanks, I did not know you had to keep them cleared. That must be why I have quotes for mowing after clearing quotes from some. Funny they never mentioned I had to keep it up. I guess if they told you had to keep it mowed that they know it would change most peoples mind if they weren't building a house. That would explain why almost all the lots in South Gulf Cove look so wild and overgrown. Maybe I will just trim an opening for my dock walkway. There is not that much growth on these lots anyway.

Yes, a cleared lot must be maintained (mowed), however, I notice that it is rarely enforced.

'eh hmmmm, ahh, yeah, sure, whatever you say! I thought I was just letting your hubby borrow the chainsaw and sitting in a comfy chair watching the show! Better yet, I'll tie the boat to your seawall and "supervise" Mr Cool do all the work while I watch a little boat tv and make margaritas!

Well, that sounds good too, as long as I'm in the boat with you. But I know you boys and your toys, you won't be able to stand letting him have all the fun!!

I'm having a huge lot cleared now, and the guy doing it is reasonable and good. That's MH Landscape, and the owner (Mark) is always on the job. Phone is 203-400-0101.
