I heard that all of Venice is on well water. Is this true? Is it all of the city or just certain parts?

There is well water everywhere just as there is City water.
Some homes aren't on City water yet so they are still dealing with the nasty sulfur well water.
I had well water in Sarasota one time and after a while you get use to it.
I wouldn't drink it but bathing and cooking was ok. I also learned that it yellows your clothes so I added 1 cup of white vinegar to every load and that took care of that problem.
I use white vinegar now in place of bleach. It's far better for your clothes and it does the same job as bleach.
I hope this helps.

Default City water

The city of Venice supplies water to most if not all residents of the city. I believe that the water that is supplied does come from deep wells. To get the skinny from the source goto

A while back my wife and I visited a friend in Venice, Fla. The next morning after arriving at his home I took a shower and good god I almost fell over from the stench! The water smelled like rotten eggs. He had no filtering system in his house and it was very bad. Later I went to the store and bought bottled water in which my friend later made me a nice tall glass of ice water from. I asked him where the ice cubes came from..wooops, sorry, he says!

That is a good Idea. I had no idea that would work. Does that help with the taste if your drinking it?

Default Probably not in the city of Venice

My guess is that your friend didn't live in the city of Venice but in Sarasota county around the city of Venice. Sounds like they have their own well. Many area wells are only about 100 to 200 feet deep and have a sulfur component.
My water from the city is clear and odor free.

This was sometime back, 15 years at the most.

I only used the white vinegar in the wash and I bought bottled water to drink.
I think the vinegar would make the water taste .. .. well, like vinegar.

To me that wouldn't be bad - if you needed to drink it. I like vinegar - I even like to drink pickle juice. I has to taste better than sulphur water. I spent time in the Adirondacks and the drinking water (mostly wells) had a very strong sulphur content - Yuck! I would avoid drinking that, but if you needed to, and I certainly wouldn't do it all the time, but if it took the sulphur taste out . . . hey sometimes I'd do it. I think that would be a great idea for clothes though - Great Idea - I hope others try it.

Do you know my ex-husband? I thought he was the only person who actually drank pickle juice!! Ewwww.
Vinegar is supposed to be good for you but I prefer using in the laundry as opposed to drinking it.
Keep in mind, it's white vinegar for laundry. 1 cup per load. I use it all the time. It takes stains out just like bleach.
I hope it works as well for you.
Keep me posted.
