just wondering what the pros and cons of city vs well water? i assumed i would have a well but it seems like some people are swayed if the house has well water. what are the issues with both.
i have a well in CT and i never drink the water.
always used bottled water.

I have and prefer well water-no bill every month, that's the best part. If you have a good filter (which most new homes do) your clothes come out fine, your water smells fine. There are no issues.

I've lived on well and septic for a number of years, although now on city services. If you are lucky enough to have a good well, you mostly will have to filter for the hard minerals in it. The upside is no bills, but the downside is if your well malfunctions you are OUT of water, period. Wells and their equipment need maintenance and are also dependent on your electric not going out, since you need electric to run your pump.

Overall I am happier being on city.

I'm on well, and we do have a filter. I like the idea that we don't have a water bill!! I do buy bottled water, but when i'm out, i do drink from the faucet, it's all good.

The only pain we experience is when electricity is out, your well is out, for hurricane season especially, and my neighborhood loses power pretty quick, due to all the powerlines running between tree branches. I just don't understand why they can't be cut down?

Well, it happened to us quite a bit. And in 2004 when we had hurricanes we were out of power for several days, and it wasn't pretty. During normal thunderstorms you can lose power for several hours. This is just a fact of life in Florida.

One summer we were out of power for about 5 days! We had to use pool water to flush the bathrooms, and thankfully, we love camping, so we have some handy dandy things to get us through times like this. Lanterns for light, little gas stove that we can cook one, etc. No air conditioning, however, that really sucks!!

we had a very bad ice storm here in CT and we were out of power for 3 days i think.. it was freezing. we had to sponge bathe in our garage, thank god for my husband and his little wood stove in the garage. thats how we kept warm. loosing power is so hard esp with kids.then, i only had one but she was a baby and had to keep her warm and make her bottles. survival skills really kick in. i hate loosing power even for a couple hours... guess ill have to get used to that.

Default Go with the city water

Yes you'll pay bills but you will not have to worry about maintenance of the equipment. Wells do run dry here and re-drilling is very expensive. Fla water is not Great and hard on your clothes and your pipes (older homes).
As others have said being here without water for several days is no picnic!
IMO: city water and sewer.
