Anything in Sunnyvale should do. It's our unofficial Little India. I have piano students there and the sense of community among Indian immigrants is strong.

+1 on Sunnyvale. I lived in one years ago near Lawrence Expressway and 280 -- every night at 6:00 the smell of curry was overwhelming.

Most Apartments on Lawrence expressway and El Camino ( Sunnyvale/ Santaclara ) has plenty of Indians. It depends on where you work in San Jose. Aprtment across from Santaclara DMV is good one.

I am looking for an apartment in Sunnyvale (around Indian community) and most of the reviews that I come across online is very poor. Are their any communities/ buildings which are considered good?

You'll find the Bay Area isn't segregated like other some other cities. Indians live wherever they like, irrespective of the ethnicity of their neighbors. I recommend just looking for a good complex, regardless of how many Indians may live there.

If your concern is the friendliness of other people, you need not worry, there is very little racism against Indians here.

If your concern is access to Indian groceries, I can't think of a part of the Bay Area that doesn't have any Indian grocery stores. You can verify on Yelp, that your proposed apartment complex is close to Indian food, groceries, etc.

Disclaimer: I am of Indian descent (born in Canada).
