This is the cast of the new Silicon Valley Show... is it just me or does the demographic of the cast and the show look different. Have I been spending to much time in one part of Silicon Valley.. a different side, or is it just the business' I visit. To me it should be the other way around.

Can you be more specific about the demographic you think the show should reflect vs this picture? I don't understand.

Well Silicon valley has a LARGE Asian population and has on average 49% women... so it's mind boggling that the demographics for such a show is 100% male with one Asian cast member.

It doesn't accurately represent Silicon Valley.

US Census stats for women in the US is 50.8%, so the SV percentage is actually less than average.

I gave the lowest percentage out of the cities. Either way.. it would be nice to see a woman as a main character.

You realize it's a sitcom, right? I'm pretty sure they're intentionally trying to play on stereotypes to make people laugh. An accurate representation of Silicon Valley is probably pretty low on their writers' checklist.

Did you get upset about how large the apartments were in Friends? A mediocre chef and a personal shopper could never afford such a place in Manhattan!!1!?one!?!

One thing - these cast members do look "nerdy" and "geeky", which is the SV stereotype. But, I agree, their racial and gender representations are not accurate of SV.

Default Zero interest in a show about SV

Just by looking at these characters, I can say that this is a show that I will never see. These guys look like real yahoos.

They can't make a show starring Asian people. Or maybe they are trying to speak to the reality of, when it is time to get a big round of funding you probably need to find a white guy front man that meets the pattern.
