Makes me a bit sad because my first apartment was at 43rd & Telegraph, and our octogenarian landlord was excited when he heard about the project. That was in 1993. Makes me wonder how old we'll be if they ever actually build it.

They are getting started in waves. The parking garage at MAcarthur is already in progress. That is the phase 1.

mod cut

I'm choosing to live in Oakland, and enjoy my life here -- not fight about it with nameless faceless person or persons on a message who love to be argumentative and right about something there is no "right" about.

Does Oakland have problems? Yes, but why should we be held to a higher standard than other cities who have crime problems. The Oakland haters ARE holding us to a higher standard. Keep in mind Oakland haters -- if Oakland solves their crime problem, it's not because the criminals wake up and see the error of their ways. It's because they wake up and see that it's getting harder to do what they do here, and they will move along to somewhere else.... maybe to where YOU live.

And the Oakland cheerleaders? Stop. NO matter what you say, the haters will attack. It's what they do. They live in negativity. And if we all ignore them, they really will go away. What's the point of fighting if the other people don't fight.

Dangerous or not, Downtown Oakland's condo market is sizzling.

Quote:
The Ellington, a luxury highrise building in Jack London Square, is down to its last unit of the 134 it started out with in 2009. In the last six months, five units sold for more than $1 million.

Within the past year, other condo projects such as the 162-unit Pacific Cannery Lofts, the 88-unit Uptown Place, and 157-unit Eight Orchids sold out or are within a couple of units of selling out.

Selling 134 units in 4 years isn't exactly a "sizzling" sales rate. That's pretty snail like actually.

Blah Blah Blah--fail.

Nope, there is no spinning this one into a negative. The condo market in Downtown Oakland is on fire, burning, WHITE HOT....ouch.

Low Inventory+High Demand=Hot Market

Sorry if that upsets you.
