We are now visiting and are having a great time despite the lousy weather. We have looked at Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Belmont and Burlingame. All great places and love the downtown of PA and Burlingame. Menlo Park and Mountain View have disappointed us, but maybe we have not been in the right places. There seems to be a lot af apartment buildings in Burlingame and big houses. Have not really seen a lot of apartment in the other cities but again have only seen so mush in two days.
We did drive to Santa Cruz, had to see the Pacific Ocean and drove through Woodside.
Tomorrow is our last day and will be spent in SF, just sightseeing and then we will go back to Chocolatetown and decide whether to stay or move.....

Thanks for all your help so far, to be continued....

I would check out downtown Los Gatos, if you like Palo Alto. Its got that same upscale vibe, but beautiful views of the mountains nearby.

Sf can match their Hershey with Ghirardelli. No chocolate withdrawals necessary.

You are correct - sweetest place on earth and yes we found lots of sweets in SV and SF. Love the Copenhagen Bakery in Burlingame and the Teushers(spelling) chocolate stores.
Thank you all - now it is time to decide ....

I hear it's just a spread out suburban area with small cities downtowns being the place to socialize.
