DWR is pretty stylish. What about Pottery Barn and CostPlus World Market?

We like "Room & Board" which is located at South Coast Plaza in Orange County. The furniture is stylish and very well made. It is also less $ than "Design within Reach".

Room & Board is awesome. Glad to hear there is one. We have one in Manhattan.

Default Recommendations from a stylish person

West Elm (good quality, hip, trendy, young, minimalist, young and Asian inspired)
Crate & Barrel (Like West Elm, minus the Asian influence)
Ethan Allen (high quality, high prices, mostly timeless and classic design, j'adore Ethan Allen)
Ikea (only recommended if you are tight on cash)
Pottery Barn (mostly a "country" look, but I'd rather buy Crate & Barrel if I go this route)
Restoration Hardware (timeless high quality pieces that are very expensive, but I love RH)

There was a thread on this subject on Craigslist. Two people emailed me the following:

"Pier One Clearance: near Washington St. in San Diego has some good stuff that's cheap."

and

"Theres a place in National City called Home Furniture & supposedly they have nice stuff for way cheaper than anyone."

I did not go to either of those two places so therefore I can't vouch for them. Whether the info is correct or not is something I cannot judge.

I noticed a couple people recommended "West Elm". Watch out, their furniture looks good but it is crap. The finish comes right off with barely a scrape. It is not well made furniture.

Unfortunately the Pier One Clearance center closed up over a year ago.

This weekend, I went into Imagina at the new Otay Ranch mall (off of Olympic Pkwy in Eastlake) and they had some really good looking (very contemporary, modern style) stuff at very reasonable prices.
From what I gathered from the employees, it is a furniture chain from Mexico and this is thier first store stateside.
It had the same feel of West Elm/Ikea, definitely not super high-quality, long lasting pieces, but very aesthetically pleasing and good on a budget. Worth checking out.
