Being from the Pacific North Wet will I get tired of the sun being out every day? And I just read a post that said 6 to 8 weeks of summer down there. I though it was always summer in San Diego with only 10 degrees difference between summer and winter. What's the real story?

Well it's 75 today, so depends on one's definition of "summer". True summer I guess lasts from about late June well into October. Yes sometimes I just yearn for a cloudy day - sometimes I just want to see a single cloud in the sky! We do get "May Gray" and "June Gloom" where it is foggy in the am and pm, but still nice for most of the day.

I just got back from NYC and coming back into the hot sun was kinda tough this time around. The air is also very dry which is a problem for me in particular. I might get sick of the sun, but I don't get sick of enjoying the outdoors year-round. If you don't like spending plenty of time outdoors, then you might not like the sun.

You're pretty much touching the thing that bothers me most about San Diego... while I've learned to live with it, and I'm pretty well used to the weather now, it was hard because San Diegans can be oh-so-not understanding on why you think sun in December is odd. The dry air is also problematic for me, as I tend to get a lot of dry mouth/throat and chapped lips from it.

The only time it's bothersome for me is during the November-December time, when you hear the newsmen talk about how excited they are to go surfing on Christmas... that's the most bassakward thing in the world to me.

I also tire of people talking about how they're getting depressed after ONE day of rain. There's also a new definition of what "pouring rain" is.

Most San Diegans have a real aversion to the prospect of rain, including some of the TV weather/news people. On Wednesday there was a Red Flag fire warning, yet the morning news team was crying the blues because rain is predicted for this weekend.

"Pacific North Wet"--never heard that one! How funny.

I have (gotten tired of some much sun). I miss Winter, but that's just me. Some people can't stand the rain, I love it. So it really just depends on you.
I should mention that I never tired of the rain while living in Portland, OR

I get tired of the sun everyday and love it when it rains (which is not enough...I love a good thunderstorm)....that is one of the reasons we are relocating to a state with four seasons. Most san diegans look at me like I am crazy when I say its too much sunshine...but it really is for me.

Not me. I think it rains plenty in Southern California. And I love to surf in the winter. It really depends on your preferences and interests. Personally I have to escape to Hawaii in the winter for a few weeks to escape the sub-70 weather (brrr). When I want weather I take a ski trip.

Not me either. I love the sun. I grew up in Russia and saw plenty of snow and experienced "real winter" temperatures. And although I must admit I miss the snow every now and then, I love the fact that I don't have to wear a whole bunch of clothes and bundle up my son to stay warm during winter in San Diego. Besides, snowy and rainy weathers bring on a lot more car accidents. I think it rains enough in here. I don't believe in "too much sun". Cloudy weather makes me sleepy and tired and the sun brings a smile to my face. You'll love San Diego.

I live in Florida and have since 2001, I have never gotten tired of the sun here, I love it. I think it depends on the person. I can't stand the cold.
