That looks like a Hawaiian pizza, and now I'm hungry! I think I'll call Venice Pizza House and order one. That way, when I walk down there, it should almost be ready to eat.

I don't know what Jersey Mikes is.

It's another sub chain, but they put more meat on their sandwiches than Subway. There's one on the corner of College Ave & El Cajon Blvd.

For sure...Good pizza and a good sub sandwich is about the only thing I miss about NJ.

Thanks for the tip! Was that a ham and pepperoni pizza or Hawaiian?

The east coast pizza snob argument hasnt changed since I have lived here. To 99% of the people eating pizza, Bronx in Hillcrest is totally acceptable enough for them and just enough to keep an east coaster at bay, pining for a 'decent slice'.

Even in the northeast, its changed. "Italian" pizza joints arent even Italian run anymore, hasnt been that way for at least a decade, not that it should make any difference. But it does, because the suppliers have all changed now as well.

Any decent shop out there still gets real San Marzano tomato sauce and freshly grated mozzarella cheese.

While I miss a decent slice once in a while on a cool night, I still have yet to find anywhere decent that serves up fish tacos like they do out here, in all of NYC. Doesnt exist and I feel the tradeoff upper hand favors SD.
Hey Shmoov,
My son had ham and pepperoni and I had a combo thing. It was a lot of bread; I normally order thin crust, but was not paying attention this time.

If you don't know Jersey Mike's, that is a good thing as it is a shameful nitrite-infused corporate chain failed replica of the real mom-n-pop deal: Jersey Mike's Subs - Authentic Sub Sandwiches since 1956

I think the Subway and the bit more expensive Wich Wich chains are pretty good and relatively healthy.
