You ain't kidding. And they can all go out together, which will mean they have an instant social life.

LA is a beautiful city, with traffic that is just terrible. It's more built on a grid-system than London, so it's a little easier getting around there if you own your own vehicle. Petrol costs are much, much lower, as is rent.

I have checked with an immigration lawyer and, when I have decided on where I want to move, I can have my visa within two to six months. Currently, I'm looking around at various US cities. LA is certainly up there, but it isn't my only choice. I wouldn't be surprised if I moved late in the year/early next year, but I am currently waiting on some information from a couple of places before I finalize my decision.

Best of luck in California!

I love this idea! if nothing else- caligirlatheart, Amber067, and NatalieM28 and I should exchange email addresses and stay in touch. I am at least 9 months out from moving (my lease end date! it's on the calendars!), but when/if I can make this possible, i'd love to have some contacts and or friends in SD. it would make the move so much less intimidating.

is it easy to meet people and socialize in SD? I'm assuming it's laid back and easy going, unlike LA. I'm from the west coast, so my time on the east coast was hard to adjust to. i'm definitely a Cali girl inside. And there's no way I can handle another year here. I'm dreading winter as it is.....

For the most part, people are approachable and willing to talk to you. They may not strike up a conversation with you, but if you engage them, they'll engage you.

(And don't call it "Cali"! Cali is a town in Columbia, South America.)

Just southeast of the intersection of 52 and I-5. Not sure what the lingo is or name of the area. West side of Clairemont. I've been checking craigslist so far. Most likely going to need to rent a room in a house, as I have 2 Great Danes and a kitty. Eeks! If anyone knows of anything, I would appreciate the lead! Would love to be within 20 minutes of work (preferably much closer) as I currently spend about $400-500/month in gas here in CO and can't handle that anymore. I've been looking in Clairemont, PB, La Jolla areas as I'm not sure where/what direction traffic is heavy.

traffic is heavy in all directions in that area (in most areas of SD County for that matter)...and as far as "rent a room in a house"...realistically, with your animals, I think you're going to have some difficulty finding a place to live. Unless you eventually rent a house yourself and get roommates. Renting wise, SD is generally alot less pet friendly than Colorado. And with 2 Great Danes...
