I patch up my cooler & roof every year but this yr is the worse so far. The cooler is rusting through big time. I can only patch up to a point. I got a feeling its going to be a very long, hot & dry summer.
This year we decided to get ahead of the hot weather and had the cooler serviced in April. To date, we've used it twice. Very cool spring so far, with summer officially not far away. Normally we suffer for a few days until the service technician can come out, but this year it was nice to know that it was there when we needed it.

The first few years that we lived in the house, I threatened every summer to have a/c installed. But, except for the "monsoon season" in August when the humidity goes way up, the higher electric bills aren't justified. We don't like sleeping with the a/c on, so even in hotels we try to cool the room down and open a window in the late evening, if possible.

95 is my cutoff for turning on a/c, below that and I'm fine with window fans. My apartment faces due west so I get the full brunt of the afternoon sun.

I know a guy who grew up in Phoenix without a/c (he's 55).

My daughter came back from Palm Springs for the summer and is complaining how cold it is here in Long Beach. Lucky for her she is now in Temecula at a resort for a work seminar. She has only had to use the air in her apartment a couple of times so far. If she had to stay the whole summer she definitely have to use it. She'll be back and forth all summer. She has already companies of our traffic here and how unfriendly peo

Mid 80's here but dew point is 60F which is quite humid for Southern California. Fired up the A/C only to figure out it needs to be recharged.

Humidity ruins the effect of heat. We're in a cloud here at the beach so when it does warm up late afternoon moving around gets you sweaty. I am definitely looking at retiring somewhere in a desert. Haven't heard from my girl in Temecula. She must be having a good time She has to go back to Palm Springs mid-week next week so she'll get a taste of that 115+
