I will be in the market for a refrigerator for my home during the tax free weekend and wanted to see if anyone has bought any appliances from a scratch and dent type of appliance store or outlet store?

Did you see any savings in comparison to going to the regular store or big chain stores?

After the purchase, how did you like your appliance? Is your appliance continuing to give you dedicated service after buying?

I looked around at the scratch and dent place on Perrin Beitel near Naco-Perrin. Not much difference in price. I purchased a refrigerator from the Sears outlet off IH 37 between Sunset and Loop 410. Some fairly decent buys there. And if you want, you can get their extended warranty. Though, I don't generally buy those.

There is a SEARS outlet on 410/281 ( or 410/Jones Maltsberger exit behind Walmart). They have them down to a decent price.

We just kept an eye on the home depots and lowes till they had what we wanted. You can often find coupons for 10 percent off which is more than the tax. We found a washer one morning that they hit hard with the forklift and got a great deal because it was scraped up on the side. With the coupon it was an excellent deal.

I saw an ad in today's paper for them. Good to know before I make the trek out there!

Does every store have a section or is it just particular stores?

I bought a fridge from the Scratch and Dent on Perrin Beitel. Got a GE model for $779 that sells for $1200 at popular home improvement stores. It works perfectly, but I have only had it for maybe 4 weeks. DM me if you want more specific information.

I checked out the selection at Conn's and was not impressed.

On a side note, my old fridge still worked enough that I was able to find a non-profit organization that could put some use to it, and I would encourage others to do donate their old appliances that still have some life in them!

I was told that each Conn's has their own selection, and they are usually floor models of appliances they are no longer selling.

all the Lowes and Homedepots have an area. Just ask. More often than not it is minor damage from loading and off loading. Sometimes its a return.
