I was planning on going but based on what I've seen of the ads so far there is nothing worth going out into the madness for.

I found this website pretty informative, Black Friday 2009 Thanksgiving Day Black Friday Ads at Black-Friday.net You can sign up for update emails that will tell you when stores black friday ads come out.

I also heard a rumor that Walmart was going to start its black friday sales on Thanksgiving evening as opposed to the day after, to avoid the chaos that typically occurs every year.

Personally, I avoid black friday, and instead shop black friday sales online. Much safer and saner that way!

Thanksgiving Day is good for online shopping and there's also Cyber Monday. I'll be at work on Black Friday, making money to buy some new toys I'm going to put under the tree myself

The one place I've ever seen that was worth waking up early and going to was Ashley Furniture. Last year they had 20% off on Black Friday before noon, and to my knowledge that's the only time in the year they go that low. Not sure if they're doing it this year.

For what it's worth, Ashley doesn't do the "raise prices by 20% so we can have a 20% sale" thing that a lot of places do (I'm looking at you Star Furniture), so it's a legit good deal.

No way! That kind of craziness must be mainly for the young! I'm too old for the crowds and pretty much only buy a small number of modest-priced Christmas presents for immediate family anyway. Gave up the old spend-til-you-drop madness long ago, and believe holidays can be more meaningful without it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to be doing everything online. Already on places like craigslist there are furniture companies like Texas United Company (Texas United Company - Black Friday Furniture Deals) offering furniture at almost half of what Ashley Furniture & Rooms to go is offering with even free delivery & assembly. And I even found a small independent stores in San Antonio offering 50% off on a lot of items from clothing to toys for kids. I guess everybody getting ready for the Holidays which is good cause we all need to save a few bucks especially now a days.

BLACK FRIDAY IN SAN ANTONIO - Should be fun
