SAT,

Seem to recall the conversations were about a government mapping(?) facility. Judging from the obviously
heavy duty industrial elevator, that would seem to validate the movement of massive, heavy materials. Far
beyond passenger capacity.

Industrial use no doubt. Tobin's Aerial Surveys were doing government contract mapping pre WWII.

I remember two brothers who were pilots for Tobin Aerial Surveys.
One did the flying while the other did the camera work/surveying.

They had a hangar at Stinson Field on the South side of San Antonio.
One of the brothers used to fly Mr. Tobin to New York.

Their Hangar still has their logo on it. I frequent Stinson and have for years. Great history there.

A friend and I went up in the control tower in 1965. It was an entirely different airport at that time. Been in it again a couple times in more recent years.

That's what they say. I'm pretty sure I flew in one late 50's early 60's Miami to Bahamas and return.

So it would seem. You didn't miss the World Heritage ceremony at Mission San Jose did you? You missed an opportunity to get a free copy of Michelle Obama's cookbook. I assume our tax dollars bought copies ($40bucks each) for all attendees. Saw former mayor Nelson Wolfe and that plagiarist weather dude.
