How about Prassel's Drug Store on Nolan? I used to love to sit at their counter and have a cherry phosphate...

My great-grandparents used to live on Burnet, which is probably all crack-houses now.

Default Up To Date Saloon and AAA Saloon old photos at Omni Colinnade

Stayed recently at the Omni at Colinnade. Saw several interesting old photos on the walls at the restaurant.
Had two photos of the above saloons with names written below some men standing in front - Jack Burell, - Chaves, Alex Haby, Joe Deideman, - Burell, George Heass, Jeb. Mart, - Napy, Otto Waegeliht, Wm. Rihn, Henry Wurzbach.

Just curious as to where these saloons were and more of a history of the men in the photos. Also had an old photo with wagons around and Devil's River News above one building.

I used to eat at Sommers on Donaldson Blvd in Jefferson Village. But my favorite was Grace's Pharmacy on Cincinnati, across from Peacock Academy.

I loved their Cherry Phosphate, and comics, Topp's baseball and football cards, candy cigarettes, etc.

It's now a tamale factory.

Does anyone remember the dime store in Colonies North mall? It was Winn's, I believe. That's when you could actually walk inside the small mall and end up in handy Andy on the other end.

Absolutely. They had a mish-mash of stuff, from fabric to baskets, to parakeets in the back to toys. Back in 1977 my parents bought me my first 2 Star Wars Action figures there. Chewbacca and C3PO. Of course, I wanted Han Solo, but they were already sold out. I remember checking out the Star Wars bin everytime we went Colonies Mall.

I also remember at the time, the record store called Davy Jones's Locker, the Arthur Murry dance studio upstairs, some sort of ladies fitness center where all you did was lie there and these machines with belts did all the work for you by shaking your fat, and of course the Colonies North Theater and Sommer's drug store.

Interesting thing to note, there was an express news article about a year or two ago about the man who started Winn's. He was also the main investor of a neighbohood that was a play on his own name......Windcrest.
