I started noticing lately that sometimes I get the HD channels and other times I dont, ie CNNHD. The message would display "This channel is unavailble at this time. Please try back later." So I called TW and here is what they told me,

The only HD channels available for free are local channels and Superstation channels (TBS) if you subscribe to Superstation.

The following channels are considered apart of their "HD TIER" package and costs an additional $6.50:

Showcase on demand
Movies on demand in HD
tbs hd
sci chan hd
espn hd
espn 2
tnt
ae
discovery
usa
palladia
cnn
weather
cnbc
planet gree
disney
cartoon net
food net
tlc
fox news
animal plan
nat geo
travel
golf
lmn
hgtv
versus
scifi
history
bravo
tennis

So I asked the rep, why then have I been receiving the majority of those channels? To which he replied, "by accident. we hope you enjoyed them. would you like to buy the HD tier package?"
One word, RIDAMNDICULOUS!!!

wow, I thought I was the ony one with that problem about some channels working only sometimes. o.k. out of that pay list, I do get TNT HD. and that never goes out. and once in a while I get that MTV channel called "Palladia" so I guess I'm getting those channels "by accident"..LOL do you ever get any problems with the free on demand channels? they dont work for me, I get the "service not available at this time"

Oh all the time!!! Its so irritating! I asked the rep about that too and he said he didnt see anything wrong with my signal, therefore there wasnt really anything TW could do about it and I just have to wait the temporary unavailability out.

another thing I've wondered, whats up with those channels 82 through 91? I get that blue screen saying "initionalizing please wait" so I wait.....and wait.... and nothing. I'm not interested in those channels, but I've always wondered about that.

TW pisses me off. I'm paying $126/mo for digital cable, two HD boxes, and Roadrunner. No movie channels.

If I had another high speed internet option where I live I'd definitely switch.

WOW! I don't have Time Warner, but here all along I thought "free HD" meant you got the HD version of any channel in your SD package if you had an HD capable set-top box.

But most of us could get the local HD channels for free with an antenna. That's what I do with my SD satellite package. Plus if your TV has a QAM tuner, you can receive the local digital & HD channels for free by subscribing to a basic SD package through most Cable companies.
