We're located on the SW corner of Hill Country Village, and it's always been marked as Hill Country Village ETJ....

It's weird, but I have a friend that lives in a small subdivision (basically one street with a few spurs) of about 20 homes or so that is adjacent to HCV but is still part of the county.

Edit: I see that ptdad lives in the same subdivision.

That sounds to me like a really odd situation. I wonder why HCV never annexed that small development, if it is inside their ETJ? The San Antonio annexation map shows the areas surrounding that unincorporated tract were annexed by the City Of San Antonio in the 1980s.

Maybe if HCV didn't act after a certain number of years had passed, it could then be claimed by San Antonio? IDK. I would think having been surrounded by municipalities for decades would have virtually guaranteed annexation years ago. I imagine the residents would prefer to be annexed by HCV, rather than COSA. I wonder they they didn't lobby HCV for annexation, if COSA would otherwise have an opportunity to grab it?

It appears the AR area is only being annexed where businesses are or will be located. Seems like if they take that now then AR wot have business taxes to help facilitate their own town

Do you honestly think Alamo Ranch will become its own? San Antonio won't let that happen without a fight due to all the loss of tax income if that happened.

Do I think so, no. But there has been talk of it which seems just as dumb as being annexed as taxes are going up with either decision

AR will continue to grow so I am sure it will happen. I have two co-workers that live out there and they are looking to move somewhere else so perhaps the appeal is not as good as it was before.

There's a lot of grumbling in the thread about the city making a "push" for annexation, but there's more to the story than that. The Bexar County judge may actually want annexation to happen more than the city does. The Commissioner's Court is fed up with having to provide services to dense residential areas, with limited budgets and limited ability to raise taxes to improve the budget. If you live in a neighborhood in unincorporated Bexar County, Nelson Wolff is not ashamed to admit that he wants your neighborhood to be shuffled into a city and out of his primary services area.

Quote:
One of the concerns among some annexation advocates, which includes Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, is that residential areas that are not annexed could eventually deteriorate.

As an example, Wolff has repeatedly mentioned Camelot II, an area in northeast Bexar County that’s home to many renters and has been haunted by crime and trash problems.
