It's not $150 to take pictures. It's $150 for what Main Plaza Conservancy refers to as "quiet hour". I recently went to a wedding at San Fernando and my friend purchased one hour of quiet time during her ceremony. Main Plaza is a vibrant community space always providing quality entertainment at all hours of the day and week. My friend contacted the conservancy and by purchasing the $150 quiet hour, this ensured that there would be no disturbances whatsoever during her ceremony. I think that's awesome and I'm glad she did because the cathedral is so old you could hear the traffic outside on the streets. I can only imagine the brides who don't purchase this and risk some band playing or festival going on. She also asked about wedding portraits to be taken on the plaza and it was not $150. I think it depends on if you're affiliated with a professional production company where the photos are going to be utilized in a promotional manner. If you really want the truth..just call Main Plaza Conservancy and ask and if they do charge so what...they're a non-profit who again provides FREE entertainment, money has to come from somewhere in order for them to successfully operate.

Just joined this forum so I apologize for the redundancy. I just wanted inform you that it's only $150 if you decide you want "Quiet Hour." Otherwise you may be risking a lot of unwanted noise during your ceremony depending on when your wedding is. If it's on a Saturday you may very well encounter live music or an event taking place right outside the cathedral during your ceremony. If you choose to buy the one hour the conservancy works around your schedule and will not have loud music playing during the selected hour. As far as wedding portraits are concerned there is a fee, but it's not $150. It's a $25 day permit for personal portraits. If you're a film crew shooting for some kind of promotion the fee is completely different I'm sure, you're then embarking on an entirely different circumstance and just about all city owned public spaces require a hefty fee for those type of projects. I hope this as been helpful and not perceived as an attack. I only know this because a good girlfriend just got married at San Fernando and I helped plan her wedding so I actually spoke with Main Plaza's Programs Manager recently and she was very nice and very helpful.
