Wasn't / Isn't there an City Ordinance that you are supposed to wash your vehicle on the grass. In my case my Silverado won't fit on our yard and I really don't like the looks of giant ruts.

Here a couple of true stories...I know of a person who washed his car on his front yard. After he was done he took a break and went inside his house. When he came out Code Compliance was in the process of writing a ticket. I know onother person who has a gravel /base driveway. He was cited for parking on the lawn due to a small patch of grass that grew through the gravel /base . So for those of you who have a driveway of base /gravel be sure and keep it mowed.

On another note..How are we supposed to keep water from flowing into the steet??? Are we to build a dam at the base of our driveway, are we supposed to buy booms to catch the water and divert it, or will I need assistance from a Family Member and have them standy with a Shop-Vac?

Don't know about that city ordinance of parking in your front yard. Some HOAs don't allow you to park a vehicle in your front yard. If you are washing your car on your water day, are you up at 4:30am to do that, so you can get to work in time?

Why not park the car on your lawn and wash it there?

Win-win situation

Oh, no... it's down that much? I sure wish there were a way to send you some of the rain we're getting up here.

Yes its a pain in the ass. I rather just spend around 3-4 dollars at a carwash. Or Pirates Cove on 471 has a 19.99 monthly package, I used to go every other day (I park in a dusty environment)

I've got to do some more research into City Code. I'm certain that it will read that you can only park your car on the yard if you're washing it.

My lawn, like most lawns with sprinklers installed, has a network of PVC pipe buried about 6" below the ground. That plastic pipe won't fare too well when a vehicle drives over or parks on it.

OK....If I read it correctly it does state in City Code Section 19-194 (d) that you are prohibited from parking on the front or side yards. I couldn't find anything where it says you can if you are washing your vehicle.

Many Driveways in San Antonio / Bexar County have a slope to them so can anyone give me an idea on how to keep water from running into the street? I don't see any way to prevent this. As long as I'm using a nozzle with a shut off I'm doing my part???????
Since I live in Bexar Met's Sevice Area I'll call their Conservation Department in the morning....Thats if they didn't lay those Folks off.

I've been able to wash my car in my driveway without water running into the street. The trick is to quickly rinse soap and use a shut off. I park as close to the garage as possible. I enjoy washing my car at home.
