Godspeed to Officer Stephanie Brown...

Quote:
Police officer, wrong-way driver killed in crash

A San Antonio police officer and a suspected drunken driver were killed early Tuesday when the motorist drove the wrong way — without headlights — on Interstate 35 downtown, crashing head-on into the officer's patrol car, authorities said.

Officer Stephanie Ann Brown, 27, was responding to a call for service and driving south on the upper level of the interstate when the collision occurred about 2 a.m. just south of McCullough Avenue.

Having recently completed a ride-along with the SAPD, I've learned even more how much these fine officers are putting their lives on the line to protect us. According to the above report, the unnamed driver of the wrong-way vehicle had bar receipts in his pocket. Brown had a 7-month-old daughter and her father is also a SAPD officer. She was a three-year veteran of the force.

May she rest in peace.

And way too much stupidity going on locally. This was the third crash in the past six months involving a police officer and a suspected drunken driver!

When I was on my ride-along, we booked an individual downtown and there was already about 7-8 DWIs processed when we were there. This was around 5:00pm on a Saturday afternoon!

My heart aches for this young life lost at such an early age, aches for her little one left behind. May she rest in peace....

For all the tourists here this week: this is what you have to look forward to. Don't go out at night because nobody here is responsible enough to not drink and drive. It's a well known fact and nothing will be done about it, ever..

just noticed the stupid drunk died too, so at least something good came out of this awful situation.. one more down, who knows how many hundreds of thousands left to go.

One of the news stations did a story on wrong-way driving occurring more often. I think most of the drivers are either drunk or elderly.

My condolences to her family.

I'm sure nearly all of us have turned down a one-way the wrong way at least once in our lives. We also notice it pretty much immediately and try to unscrew our mistake ASAP. Drunks here seem to become very violent and remember that most of them never even graduated high school, so I'm guessing they're doing it on purpose and they're too stupid to figure out it might get them too.
