Walkable areas would be extremely nice, but I couldn't find any "nice" areas around where I'll be working. I was reading about some apartments in Chili, but then I read that it's really not that great of an area.

I guess, in the end, that it doesn't matter, initially; I just need somewhere that's "safe". Distance is of no concern, because I currently drive 16+ miles to work, one way.
Haha, you'll be working very close to where I lived to go to school at RIT!

That area is extremely light on traffic. I never saw a traffic jam there period. Living in the city of Rochester would be further away, but doable if you want to live there. Where you're working is near the outskirts of Henrietta and not exactly a booming place at all. If you choose to live in Henrietta (where I did) it's pretty... rural. There are farms, older houses, not much nightlife and nothing's walkable. It's not the most exciting place to live. If you DO choose to live in Henrietta I lived in Riverton Knolls Apartments on Countess Drive and it was great. I lived there two+ years. Dog friendly, integrated in a nice neighborhood, quiet, townhome-style, apartments.

As for Texas to Rochester, I moved to Rochester from Orlando, FL. Get ready for cold, cold winters, lots of snow, and mild summers. I really miss the weather in Rochester! Most people hate snow, but I loved it. Invest in heavy winter wear and a good scraper for your car's windshield in the mornings and welcome to Rochester!
