You know that the title is tongue-in-cheek..........Don't you?

I work in the West End of Richmond and there is no work for me today. My place of employment is open, but because I live almost an hour away they called me and told me not to come in!

There is very little snow out there, IMHO, but then again I just moved here from NW Michigan where the average snowfall is 211 inches a year. I do understand that VDOT is not fully prepared for this as the cost of having all of the equipment, verses the number of times it would be used, is prohibitive.

My DH is a paramedic and did not have the option of not going in to work. He just called and said that the roads are horrible. He recommended that I not venture out today, no matter how badly my 4 wheel drive wants to go out and play.

The snow is drifting, and it's still snowing. There are many people without power.

What do you see out there? Have you seen many accidents? Do you know of many without power? Are the kids just loving it?

If you need to drive today please remember to drive slowly and keep a great distance between you and the car in front of you (at least 100 feet). If some idiot wants to pass you, LET THEM. Also, if you have 4 wheel drive, don't think that it makes you invincible. Many people that have it don't know how to use it properly. Watch out for slush. It can be as bad as ice. No one should be driving above 35 MPH. You'll get where you are going eventually.

Above all....BE SAFE OUT THERE...and remember, somebody loves you and needs you.

I havent seen any accidents, as I am not going out today for anything. I hate driving in snow or ice. I have lived in Virginia my whole life. I just hate the snow. As a kid I liked it better because 2 inches of snow, and no school for 3 days. But now its just a pain.

We are north, near Quantico. At 1:30, our street has not yet been plowed. If they don't get to it (which sometimes they don't), buses and small cars will have problems in the am. The main roads are good. We were able to get out to go sled riding.

Im so excited classes were canceled for today.

Again, I claim no credit for this picture.
Credit goes to photographers of Richmond Times-Dispatch and affiliated blogs.
I ask that the mods don't remove these photos.
