weekend accommodations...not advertising... (Warwick, Cranston: to rent, hotels, moving to)

As mentioned in another post we will be moving to RI this summer. The wife and I are looking to take a long weekend trip within the next month to get to know the area and look for a place to rent when we move. We are going to try and do this as on the cheap(er) as possible. Any recommendations on clean motels or other like accommodations? I suppose we would want something around the Kingston area or more central state and we will fan out from there. What about hostels? Any reputable ones that have private rooms? Thanks... Never heard too much about hostels in RI- there was something in Npt considered a hostel, but who knows is that is open at this time of year. There is a motel 6 off the highway in Cranston or Warwick- the Motel 6 in Newport is decent- maybe you can catch before their rates go way up.

I know how it is not to want to spend too much $$, but frankly do you want to stay in a dump?

Why not spend a couple hundred and make a vacation out of it? Get a nice little B&B with breakfast....
