New Haven once had the Ravens. They played at Yale Field on the West Haven town line.
I thought, back in the day, but I could be wrong, when New Haven, New Britain and Norwich all had AA Eastern League teams, they might have competed for the Connecticut Cup or something like that?
It's almost mind blowing to think, back in the 90's, 20-24 years ago, there were 3 AA teams in Connecticut forming a triangle and being so close to one another!
Speaking of Western Mass, I did get to go to a Pittsfield Mets game and got to experience a "sun delay" back in '96, I believe. And I do remember back then when Springfield was trying to get an affiliated minor league team (maybe AA), but nobody had the money to pay for a new ballpark, oh the memories.
I wish it were still that way here in CT! I think there was a Sound competition between Long Island and the former Bridgeport team in the Atlantic League.
The Red Sox management wanted their AA affiliate to move to the Springfield area. The late Joe Buzaz said no and said he'd keep baseball here. That led to Minnesota coming in for 1995. They played one season at Beehive Field (which had hosted the BritSox since 1983). New Britain Stadium was then built next door from Beehive Field and opened in 1996. The Red Sox affiliation went to Trenton, NJ. (It's in Portland, ME now.)

I remember the Red Sox being affiliated with the Trenton Thunder, I saw a game down there in 1996. I also saw a game in '96 in Portland, when the Sea Dogs were affiliated with the Marlins, and had teal as their primary color.
Then fast forward to 2003, the Red Sox move their AA team to Portland (which sort of made sense), and the Yankees abandon Norwich for Trenton and the rest is history.
To paraphrase Suzyn Waldman of NY Yankees radio: "What about Raw-jurr Clemens? I saw him in the owner's box, Jawnn! Goodness gracious!" Clemens and the BritSox won the 1983 Eastern League title at Beehive Field.

Alas, never got to see him there. Checking out those minor league games were at the mercy of trips to see family in the area.
